Psalm 15
LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
Here we see in this Psalm, David begins to write out a list of characteristics of a person who will dwell in the presence of God.
The list contains: A person who doesn’t lie, doesn’t gossip, doesn’t swear or curse, a person who hates the evil things of this world, a person who stands by their word, and a person who doesn’t take advantage of people.
Let me ask you a question:
Do you have any of these characteristics?
Which of these characteristics do you lack?
Which of these characteristics is hardest for you to control?
Sometimes when we look at our lives it seems like so many things are wrong that we don’t know where to start to fix some of the junk in our lives.
I want to encourage you today, look at this list and begin to ask God to help you with these things. Then, work on one at a time and have a goal where all of these things will be evident in you life.
I love what it says at the end, “whoever does these things will never be shaken”, what an amazing promise from our God.
