Life in….

As a student pastor, I often find myself asking the question “What makes the perfect youth experience?” The battle between perceived need and perceived desires rages on. The students think they want one thing, their parents want one thing, and the youth pastor walks the delicate tight rope. Perhaps it’s the youth pastor willing to sing Justin Beiber in a horrific display of vocal ineptitude, maybe it’s the hoards of junk food with enough caloric energy to power a space ship, or even a game...

Canyons Student Ministries New Message Series: REFUEL

Running on empty?—it’s more than a classic song from the ’70s. It’s the way many Christians describe their spiritual lives. We have our spiritual checklists. We gauge our spiritual growth by all the things we do and accomplish and pursue. We think we’re growing because we’re busier than ever. Yet deep down inside, we feel empty and tired and dry. Somewhere along the way, we bought into the lie that Christianity is more about “doing” than “being.” But you and I don’t have to live life on empty....

Revival Hymn

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_VpTK1bLIE] My prayer has been for years now...for Real Revival! Not a week of meetings that we call "revival" but a Real move of God! As I have been studying revivals of the past one thing stands out to me. Is that I am sick of reading about revival. Don't get me wrong I love reading about all the amazing things God has done in the past, But I'm longing to experence real God sent revival..Not emotions or setting..but a move of God that messes up our...

Loving God for who He is

Read this from one of John Pipers sermons about 4 or 5 years ago...Pretty good stuff! Loving God for who He is-- This is one of the most important discoveries I have ever made: God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in him. This is the motor that drives my ministry and effects everything I do. Whether I eat or drink or preach or counsel of whatever I do, my aim is to glorify God by the way I do it (1 Corinthians 10:31). This means my aim is to do in a way that shows how the glory...

From Mormon to Jesus

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2Gmkva4gr4] Nine months ago after being laid off from a church that we really thought we would be at for a long time, we began to question alot of things. one being will we ever work in ministry again. as i sat at home every day for those 9 months or was out working little odds and ends jobs just trying to make it by, i can recall a peace that really did pass all understanding. and i knew that it was in that season that God has placed us there for a...

In the Waiting..

Not posting this for the movie...but the words to the song. My sister had this as her ring back tone when I would call her. And it kicked my tail and yet ministered to me all in the same time... I think back to the last 7 to 8 months of life. after being hurt really bad by "church people" really "church staff" and wanting to throw in the towel and quit. I would read my word and hear songs like this and I was remind to not quit. Keep pressing on. And in the Waiting still work for Him. Psalm...

Oh how He loves.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Romans 8:38 My pastor, Mike Gray has been teaching on Love the past 3 Sundays. So this verse has been on my mind alot... I’ve read this passage from Romans probably five hundred times. I’ve preached it. I’ve sung it. I know it by heart. Yet when I consider...

The poster child for what could have been……

www.stevenfurtick.com----Steven Furtick is the Lead Pastor of Elevation Church, in Charlotte, NC. This was a post on His wall. Few of you have ever heard of Ron Wayne. A lot of you have used the products that stem from his creation. All of you need to know his story because it’s a warning to all of us. Along with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Ron Wayne cofounded Apple Computer Inc. on April Fools Day, 1976. Yes, there was a third founder of Apple. But few people know that because just twelve...

10 Characteristics of Growing Churches

10 Characteristics of Growing Churches August 12, 2010-----www.perrynoble.com An awesome Blog that I read daily.. Read this and couldn't help but to think of the Church God has called and placed us at in SLC Utah... #1 – They have leaders that lead! “For God so loved the world that He did not send a committee!”  Not sure where I heard that…but its true! #2 – A desperation for God’s power! Prayer isn’t a good luck charm that is attached at the beginning or at the end of something…people are...

Thankfullness…

I've been thinking a lot today about that word for some reason. In my quite time this morning I read this verse.. ...comfort those who are frightened, take tender care of those who are weak, and be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else. Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:14-16)....
